Looks like a load of housewives tales and othjer shite to me - anyone who peddles that spray on anti-GATSO shite and *guarantees*[1] that it works has to be a shyster or just a bit stupid.....
Dave
[1] I have yet to hear of any spray on plate hider stuff that actually works. In fact, I don't think any of the supposed 'beat the camera' tricks work

I saw a similar issue on Road Wars I believe once but the pork reckoned it was illegal to use anyway.

That is a DREADFUL site!!!!
I just looked through the 'get off drink driving bit' and it's utter tosh.
he dramatically claims that you will recieve a £14,000 fine and years and years of ban..(eh??!!!)
WATCH how he sells you his method of getting a paltry 9 month ban and a mere £135 fine!!!
What he's actually saying is he got caught at 53UG% (legal limit is 35UG%) and got a year ban which was reduced to 9 months on completion of a course (everyone gets this) and the fine is in keeping with the reading he got. plank.
the spray on stuff doesn't actually work ....i mean it appears to work when stood there and the sales guy takes a polaroid of the disguised plate but it doesn't fool a Gatso..
"Regular drivers will be able to see your car number plate as normal, and it's UNDETECTABLE to the naked eye. Police officers will have no idea."
that's right!.....the video screen showing no plate details won't catch our attention at all...
awful site.

I had a bigger read of the site after reading pork's take on it and noticed the guy says he's only selling 250 copies of his 'advice' on drink driving (at £39.95 a go) to finance a 'vacation' for his family....
Pretty nice 'vacation', that!
But I don't know any Brits who use the word 'vacation' so I did a check and he's registered the site via proxy through godaddy....
Hmmmmm.... Septic taking the piss out of Brits who'll part with their money too easily (hence the way it's all worded in pseudo-management psycho-babble and his use of the "FACTS!!" about drink driving convictions) anyone?

erm, I would presume that the video would show the plate as normal. Isn't that stuff meant to just white out the plate under the flash from a fixed (stills) camera? No effect on video.
That statement is probably true. Unlike the statement that it will prevent an ID from a gatso photo.
[edited to add: amusingly, the promo photos of the FLA licence plate only white out about half the characters. I'm sure Del can tell us how easily he can track down a vehicle from a partial reg plus the make/model/colour.]
oh and of course it will also have no effect on specs cameras cos they don't flash.

the spray stuff works with bright sunlight or headlamps shone directly on it..
our screens show just a yellow plate...no details
partial number plates are quite easy to track down.

in that case I apologise for doubting
you've pulled a few people that have actually tried this then?

A slave flash unit works though doesn't it to stop a gatso taking a pic?
Secondly, if my car was clamped and I cut the padlock of the clamp i'd guess it would be criminal damage. Could a just purchase them a new padlock for £30 rather than paying for a ticket?

There was a guy who let his tyre down to get out of a clamp, and as it hadn't damaged it at all they couldn't do him for crimainal damage. Clamps are fucking stupid anyway. You're parked in a silly place, I know lets solve this by imobilising the vehicle.

yes, more than once....then they act all stupid saying, 'bought the car like it' and so on....
(even though they've had it 4+ years.. )

A slave flash could possibly work, but then don't gatsos take 2 pics ? Can you get ones that could re-energise in time to obscure both pictures ?

Eeeh, some things never change. I made that point to someone about 15 years ago when gatsos first started appearing on the roads only to receive a rant about how he was a semi-professional photographer and knew all about the equipment, etc. Never answered my question though.
I think there has to be two photos to prosecute as the speed is confirmed by the distance travelled in a measured time, so you might get away with it once but I don't fancy your chances of avoiding a visit from some gentleman in uniforms who have one picture of your car or bike with a clear numberplate and one obscured by a flash...
Failing that, you could always look for the fucking big yellow box on a stick at the side of the road with gradations marked in white paint in front of it and slow down a little.

to be fair, there is quite a gap between the two pictures, and I'm pretty sure decent pro flashes will recharge pretty quickly. However I tend to agree with you that it's easier to look for the big yellow boxes.
