watch out for those shoelaces, you'll pull up at the traffic lights and fall on your arse.

Typical dyno room spitting and banging aside, how much is she making?

Totally irrelevant, it spits flames through the collector box on over-run

This automatically makes the project a success in my book!:D

Like the use of ear defenders all round LOL.

Nice......the noise alone will turns some heads down the local bike meet... Aint no-one ever gonna believe its still a GSXR engine. (Sounds like a Mille with the balancer shaft removed)!

It'll be interesting to see how much more tractable it is and what the laptimes are.....

Good work

Here is a sound recording of it going through the gears and up to the limiter a few times.  Sorry for the quality, was done on mobile phone.  Power figures in the latest copy of the mag which came out a couple of days ago.  Very impressed so far.

This may be a daft question, but given the obvious attraction of a bike that sounds like a proper GP beast, why are the manufacturers not flogging BB engined bikes to the likes of you and me?

Given my armchair mechanic understanding of the idea, basically having the big bang puts more stress on the crank, valvetrain and so on because they're dealing with one large impact instead of several smaller, more frequent ones.

I'd guess that more stress means reliability issues or making specialised parts to cope with the stress, which probably means more expense on development and manufacture.

Yes the stresses do change with this kind of firing order.

The valvetrain stresses only really change from the viewpoint of the cam chain which has to open a pair of valves on either side in parallel as opposed to the singular amount before.

The reason for the failure we suffered at Mallory was not big bang related which i was really pleased to find out.  It was a shattered cam bucket which is a result of the excessive cam profile i decided to run.  This happens pretty rarely but the suzuki buckets are known to do this with this level of cam.  A couple of engine builder friends have seen it once a piece out of 50 motors between them so i guess it was just crap luck.  Anyway, we are now running uprated buckets.

I now have a new motor which is being built up at the moment.  Piper are designing a new cam ready for the next issue with BB3 format.  We are making a couple of changes due to things learnt on the first attempt and with luck and time permitting, it should be running within the next month.

Sorry for the delay in all this as it will mean a couple of issues missing the project but i've been working 100 hours a week getting race motors built up these last few months and its only now starting to quiten off a little bit.  I am really excited about continuing as the first attempt was awesome.  The sound and power deliver were quite something else, i can tell you.

So watch this space.  If you want anymore info, drop Olly a mail or message.

Well its up and running again.

For anyone in the Mallory Park area, it will be on track tomorrow.

Should be fairly easy to spot, look for the black suzuki that sounds like a ducati and has long flames coming out the back;)
