WTF !!!!!!!!!! wheelie down fuchsrohre ! quite a bit of time lost to traffic (erse at bergwerk took way too long to pull over after indicating ) and situation at carousel. its only may fer christsakes !what are these vids gonna be like by end of summer !im first in queue for boxed set of every bike tested.would be great if each dvd had a lap with bre. . . i mean the baron and a lap with dale . great lap looking forward to each article on ring in the mag . enjoy your summer dale ,your living the dream !
Nice....... 7:35 with dumb car driver and road works! Looks like the Baron is giving some really good help! I think if you get much quicker Bren will get upset! I know Bren and The Baron can get a bit competitive so seeing 3 idiots and going for it in August will be fun!
nah.. the boy has got a few tricks to learn yet... 7m32 is the quickest vid lap yet... done by yours truly..with about the same track conditions..(2 sets of roadworks, holdups etcetc ) but grasshopper will learn from the both us ..

I see you and the Baron getting serious soon! Dale is still young but at least you have age and treachery on your side! The Baron has years of experience and his past racing experience and racecraft!
I didn't realise how many championships the Baron has won over the years!

I think Dähnes 7:49 are history now.......
Err one thing to remember is that the 7:49 is not bridge to gantry....Not saying the lap won't be beaten but it is not going to get monstered that is for sure.
I drove the Radical turbo to a 7:19 lap (full lap not BTG) and no way can a bike keep up - and I ride a K7. Its just too hard to carry the same corner speed and too hard to keep the front nailed.

All I will say is that a 7m30 BTG is 7m52 full lap.. and these are done through traffic and roadworks.. but it would take a serious bike on slicks to manage a 7m20 full lap.. I think a 7m35 -40 on a stock bike is do able..
As legal as a Radical can be...it was on road tyres though.
But really my point wasn't about the Radical more that the Helmut D time is still going to be there or there abouts, which is big respect because tyres/bikes have moved on so much since then..
Anyway to be really fast at the'Ring you need long hair and ride a German R1!
Ha no I've seen this German bloke there many times long hair, Silver R1 and i'll be surprised if the guy is still alive he is totally flat in the foxhole and at the top grinds everything out - then stops has a fag and continues till he wears his boots out...
the radical is hardly a 9 grand out the shop production bike tho is it ! as for being on road tyres ,i think the radicals cheating a bit on the grip factor considering the downforce the car generates . these are times being done on almost stock road bikes by non racing riders ,maybe one or two of them have dabbled a bit in the past ,but i think a bike to wsb spec and with a top rider on board with the necessary track knowledge would certainly trouble your time in the radical.its a situation unlikely to happen i know ,but you never know bike racing may return to the ring (wishful thinking )certainly helmut dahne on wsb spec bike ,set up for ring would more than give you a run for your money ! as bren has said elsewhere dahne at his peak on equivalent machinery and there would be a minute difference. anybody thats watched dahnes onboard laps can see he is running all the kerbs and never misses an apex , and (this sounds a bit nerdy ) only puts about 25% of the steering inputs per lap in compared to ANY other lap on the net , so when comparing times we have to remember he had at least 40-50 bhp less and nowhere near the grip level of modern tyres.he was one of the top riders of his generation and to get like for like you would have to put someone like hislop on an r1 sp and let him do 30000 ring miles then time him . still think your radical time would stand up ? to be fair to the guys riding the ring today ,its highly unlikely that they will ever see ideal conditions (empty track,no roadworks and high grip levels )due to the current popularity of the ring and arseholes in tin boxes ,some badly maintained some badly built ,that dont realise that unlike bike engines theirs wasnt engineered to cope with multiple ring laps and its not a matter of if but when it will spew its guts out .with this in mind although it might look like these guys are right on the limit whether conciously or subconciously they always have a little in reserve as there are too many blind sections not to .

You obviously haven't met Dale, have you....?

he he he . i did once breifly at the ring ,before he fucked off into the distance .but i saw the times he was doin then compared to now ,and it looks like hes taken as calculated approach to reducing his times as is possible .no banzai shit just put in a lot of time effort and hard work as much on his riding as riding at the ring and its paying off big time now. i may sound as though im inawe of these guys and its cos i am ,what they are doing is great to see especially for thse of us without the talent to do it ourselves. having become a world champion myself at my favourite sport (sea angling ,shore denmark 99, nowhere near as interesting as bikes ,i know )i know how much sacrifice time and effort goes into reaching the top of the tree at whatever you are into takes.and make no mistake thats where these guys are ,theres way too much bullshit around this ie posts about times in a race car with lights instead of people giving the respect to what they are doing ,because regardless of whose done what before and who could theoretically do what with whatever ,these guys are actually doing it(dale has best job in world bar none ,brens aint to shabby either)if they set a modern day lap record on 2 wheels then i hope they receive all the praise they deserve
