What a machine they're being a tad optimistic with the pillion pegs though intresting comment Dale made that it could basically make or break a DAS rider, anyone up for the challenge?

I've not got a huge amount of experience, so if someone wants to give me a superduke to test I'll put my neck on the line...
Altruism, aint it marvelous...

The old one is brutal off a closed throttle, I kangarooed across the carpark on my first ride. Then you get used to it and oh my....
If the new one addresses that niggle and is just a little bit "betterer" it's already a better bike than most of us will ever need.
It won't turn in as quick as my original model though, nor will it ever be quite as orange...

See, the Super Duke is one of those machines that throws up as many questions (personally) as it answers...
I love the styling, the engine... the completely different approach that KTM takes to design...
...but then I clock the price and think that they're going to be so many other options for that sort of money... the 'diddy' tank range put me off as well.
I've often toyed with the idea of clearing the garage... getting rid of the toys and buying (and using) ONE bike for all my fun... but would the KTM fit the bill? Hmm
Is there anything that can bridge the gab between my VFR800 and my RS250?
PS. (off thread...) Tried a Buell 'Firebolt' at the weekend... Very strange beast... Yes, handles superbly... but the engine needs thrown in a skip.

Ha ha ha I tried one last year & thought exactly the same. The engine was rubbish. [sorry, no offence meant to any Buell owners on here]
As for the KTM super duke... one of my mates has just ordered one & picks it up at the weekend.
He had a Fazer 1000 & fancied something different. He's bought it without taking a test ride so I relayed to him the comment in the mag of 'mad as a bag of angry spiders'. he can't wait to ride it. Gizz a go, mate

i have an 06 superduke, and i have to say it's one of the most fun machines that i have ever owned (along with my tdr 250's),its very quick with instance responce, best brakes i've ever had, fantastic handleing with great build quality.
the fueling was 99% sorted with a set of can's,a remap from ktm and a 16t front sprocket,i allways found the front end a bit light and livley until the standard exhaust was removed ,it must weigh nearly 20 kg,fitting the accy's has shaved 10-15 kilos off the back of the bike and calmed the front end down no end(i was thinking about investing in a steering damper, before )
i wouldn't reccomend it to a newby,i've been riding for 19 years, mostly on sportsbikes(i was starting to get bored of sports bikes and fancyied something different)and the superduke shocked me.....its my first "V" twin though.....took some getting used too, especially lower speed mini roundabouts and junctions ,you have to be spot on with the throttle not to make a mess of it.
in the end it's an absolute hoot to ride, massive smiles per mile, the tank range isn't that much of a bother,as you need to rest you neck after a tank anyway,it's a good way to keep your top speed down aswell.......130 really hurts .
i really don't think there's much that would touch a superduke on a twisty back road, for me the money was worth spending(especially as the 06 models are still £6995 rather than £8 K+ for the 07)

I wish! £7k wouldn't seem too bad... but there's only dealer in Scotland (that I can find) and they'll not budget on prices... They'll not even offer a decent trade-in.
That's the problem up 'ere... great roads, but particular 'poop' dealers. Yes, we get nice service (the coffee at Ducati Glasgow's not too bad at all...) and a smile (but that's only after they've tipped out wallets upside down).

| There was an ex-demo at Gear4 for ca. £6 last time I looked. Less than 1000 miles...

Plus you have to remember what you're getting for your money:
WP suspension front and rear tope quality stuff (high and low speed adjustment on rear for example.
Brembo radial master cylinder brakes.
Very light weight .
Stunning handling
Something very, very different and very, very orange.

i had a superduke for about 8 months it was the biggest piece of shit i have ever had even with the akras and smaller front sprocket the injection was terrible i took it to two dealers the for warrenty work when it started to fall apart it had only done 2000 miles the depreciation was unbeliveable a £8000 bike most of the dealers where only offering £4800 when it was 6 months old i would never have another ktm

You're the first person I have ever heard say that the SD is a piece of sh*t... I agree that the FI isn't great low down but that's not unique to KTM/Superduke.
I have a SD and would admit that I am not the best/fastest rider out there but I have improved 10x since riding the SD. The handling & confidence it gives is brilliant. As for the low-rev snatchiness - I just us the clutch to mitigate.
Can't help but think that you have had very bad luck and have lost out I can imagine you're pissed off that you lost so much money but they do sell privately for a lot more then that so if you did accept 4.8k for a 6 month old bike that would be have been your choice...

My brother has a Buell and to me it just feels like a slow CBR600, possibly powered by some sort of cement mixer. I just don't get it.

It's a real shame boot, you must have had a real Friday afternoon special as the build quality is excellent and commented on pretty regularly by people I've heard from.
The older version is orangerer than the new one basil, mine is really very, very orange indeed

Just bought one!!! Absoloootly fookin great! Still running it in but the drive and the stupidly good cornering are amazing, all this plus if you go to Drysdales motorcycles in Perth (Scotlandshire) they'll do an 06 model for 6495!!! Seriously I've got a 98 R1 aswell and the duke just makes me laugh out loud when I ride it! Roll on next week when its run in!!!
