Buried in the PBTT 1000 test was a piccie of Yamaha R6 crashed at the Ring.
The boys at PB had identified it as an R1 probably due to too many Weissbiers but it might interest the owner that Yamaha DO know that part is a weak point of the 03-05 R6.
Involved with the semi official Red Piranaha British Supersports team at the time with Simon Andrews and they carried quite a large stock of swingarms for this reason. Any decent sideload on the mounting and she'll come off - normally due to a previous crash (not sure whether chap had owned the bike from new no crashes etc etc).
PB not cheap downunder $12.90 in Sydney airport.
P.S. Still deciding whether to hang about in NZ for the Whanganui road races at cemetary circuit or bugger off to cheapy old SE Asia early - any ideas?

No, i think they knew that was'nt a pic of an r6, they just stuck the R1 pic in for illustrative reasons.

Confusion beats logical arguement every day
Story was about an R1 but picture showed R6.
Picture showed R6 with collapsed rear suspension.
Picture of R6 with collapsed rear suspension shown leaning against very Nuerburgring-esque barrier.... Quod Erat Demonstrandum and all that!
Wasn't having a pop at the PB boys for making an error but was necessary to point it out before strarting on about R6's when story seemed to be about R1's.
Ta ta for now! More bungy and skydiving stuff to do - still doesn't beat ragging a litre bike in the top gears!!

Well well, just randomly came across this thread!
It was my R6. Dale said it was an R1 by mistake. As much as i wish it was an R1 it wasn't and it is no more now anyway!
Really interesting to hear that its a known problem. Thanks for that!
I wonder if i should actually contact Yamaha and give them a bollocking. Doubt i'll get anything out of it but it might do wonders for my satisfaction!
Oh and it had never been crashed before.
